Switch semaglutide provider without paying more

By the NexLife Medical Team · Medically reviewed by Adam Kennah, MD · Updated

You can switch semaglutide providers mid-treatment; with proof of your current dose, your new provider can continue it when clinically appropriate instead of restarting you at 0.25 mg. At NexLife it’s $119 a month on the 12-month plan or $139 month to month, at every dose (checked November 1, 2026); if you pay less elsewhere, send a receipt from the last 60 days and we’ll match it.†

NexLife Price Match Guarantee†. Already on compounded semaglutide with another licensed provider, and paying less? We match your regular monthly price. How it works

Already on semaglutide? Keep your dose and your momentum.

Switching shouldn’t mean starting over. Bring your current dose, your history and a recent receipt.

  • Gaps set you back. Miss more than two weeks of semaglutide and your provider may restart you at a lower dose.
  • Prices creep. At dose-priced programs, 1.7 mg and 2.4 mg cost the most.
  • Maintenance is the long part. The months on your steady dose are when care counts.

Not a restart. A smoother next chapter.

  • Your price, matched.† Paying less now? We match your regular all-in monthly price.
  • Your dose, reviewed. A licensed provider continues your semaglutide when it’s right for you.
  • $119 a month on 12 months, at every dose. On a 12-month plan, or $139 month to month. 0.25 mg or 2.4 mg, the same price.

Your route

How do you switch from the Wegovy pen, the pill or Ozempic?

From the Wegovy pen. Your provider reviews your current dose. Compounded semaglutide comes in a vial you draw with a syringe, so your dose is measured in milligrams on the label, not in pen clicks.

From the Wegovy pill. There’s no direct conversion between oral and injected semaglutide; the pill’s milligrams don’t match the shot’s. Your provider decides where you start.

From Ozempic. Ozempic has its own dose ladder. Tell your provider your current dose and what it’s prescribed for.

From another compounded program. Share your dose in milligrams, your last dose date and a photo of your label. When it’s right for you, your dose continues.

Give your dose in milligrams, not units. Vial strengths differ between pharmacies, so units don’t carry over. At 2.5 mg per mL, 10 units (0.1 mL) is 0.25 mg of semaglutide. At 5 mg per mL, the same 10 units is 0.5 mg. Your NexLife provider needs the milligrams on your label.

Moving to tirzepatide instead? See semaglutide to tirzepatide for your starting dose and timing. On tirzepatide now? See how to switch GLP-1 providers.

In their words

What does the FDA say that matters when you switch semaglutide providers?

Three lines behind this page’s advice: go by milligrams, ask how to measure a new vial, and check your label for a salt form.

This is why units don’t carry over between pharmacies, and why your new provider asks for the milligrams on your label:

“Product concentrations also may vary depending on the compounder, and a single compounder may offer multiple concentrations of compounded semaglutide products.”

U.S. Food and Drug Administration, FDA alerts health care providers, compounders and patients of dosing errors associated with compounded injectable semaglutide products

Moving from a Wegovy pen to a vial means drawing your own dose with a syringe; your provider sets the units for your new vial.

“FDA encourages patients to talk with their health care provider or compounder about how to measure and administer the intended dose of compounded semaglutide.”

U.S. Food and Drug Administration, FDA alerts health care providers, compounders and patients of dosing errors associated with compounded injectable semaglutide products

Before you switch, check the medicine named on your current label, and tell your provider if it names a salt form:

“These salt forms, including semaglutide sodium and semaglutide acetate, are different active ingredients than are used in the approved drugs.”

Vial math

How many units is your semaglutide dose?

It depends on your vial’s strength. Here are the Wegovy label’s dose steps at two example strengths.

Semaglutide dose steps from the Wegovy label, with the volume and units on a U-100 syringe at two example strengths, 2.5 mg/mL and 5 mg/mL
WeeksWeekly doseAt 2.5 mg/mLAt 5 mg/mL
1 to 40.25 mg0.1 mL (10 units)0.05 mL (5 units)
5 to 80.5 mg0.2 mL (20 units)0.1 mL (10 units)
9 to 121 mg0.4 mL (40 units)0.2 mL (20 units)
13 to 161.7 mg0.68 mL (68 units)0.34 mL (34 units)
17 onward2.4 mg0.96 mL (96 units)0.48 mL (48 units)

The math: mL = dose ÷ strength (mg per mL); units = mL × 100. At 2.5 mg/mL, 1 mg is 1 ÷ 2.5 = 0.4 mL, or 40 units. At 5 mg/mL, the same 1 mg is 0.2 mL, or 20 units.

Both strengths are examples only. The same dose is a different number of units at a different strength, so read the strength on your own vial’s label. Your prescription sets your dose and schedule, which may differ from these label steps. Every step: the semaglutide dosage chart.

Switching semaglutide: your questions

Fair questions about NexLife

Will my price go up with my dose?
No. You pay the same at every dose.
What if I’m not prescribed?
You aren’t charged for medication.
Can I cancel?
Yes, by email. It takes effect 30 days after we receive it. Plans renew until you cancel; our cancellation policy has the details.
Do I need insurance?
No. Pay with an HSA or FSA card, or with Affirm, Klarna or Afterpay at checkout.

Can I switch semaglutide providers mid-treatment?

Yes. A licensed provider reviews what you take now, whether it’s compounded semaglutide, Wegovy or Ozempic, plus your dose and health history, and decides your next dose. With proof of your current dose, they can continue it when it’s clinically appropriate. At NexLife, if you aren’t prescribed, you aren’t charged for medication.

Will I have to restart at 0.25 mg?

Not necessarily. With proof of your current dose, your provider can continue it when it’s clinically appropriate. Gaps matter: miss more than two weeks of semaglutide and your provider may restart you at a lower dose. So bring your dose in milligrams, your last dose date and a photo of your label.

Can I switch from Wegovy to compounded semaglutide?

Only after a provider’s review. Compounded semaglutide isn’t FDA-approved, and a licensed provider prescribes it only when it offers a significant difference for you compared with an FDA-approved product. It comes in a vial you draw with a syringe, so your dose is in milligrams, not pen clicks. If insurance covers Wegovy, staying on it may cost less.

Can I switch from the Wegovy pill to injections?

Yes, with a provider’s review. There’s no direct conversion between oral and injected semaglutide; the pill’s milligrams don’t match the shot’s, so your provider decides where you start. If you move to compounded semaglutide, it isn’t FDA-approved and is prescribed only when it offers a significant difference for you compared with an FDA-approved product.

Why did my units change after switching?

Because vial strengths differ between pharmacies, the same dose can be a different number of units. At 2.5 mg per mL, 10 units (0.1 mL) is 0.25 mg of semaglutide; at 5 mg per mL, the same 10 units is 0.5 mg. Go by the milligrams on your label; your provider sets the units for your new vial.

Will NexLife match my semaglutide price?

Yes, if you’re new to NexLife and pay less for compounded semaglutide at another licensed U.S. telehealth provider or clinic. Send a receipt from the last 60 days, and we match your regular all-in monthly price.† First-month offers, coupons and prepaid multi-month rates aren’t matched. Billed every 4 weeks now? That’s 13 payments a year, not 12.

What if my current semaglutide is a salt form?

Tell your provider before you switch. The FDA says salt forms such as semaglutide sodium and semaglutide acetate are different active ingredients than those used in approved drugs, and it isn’t aware of any lawful basis for their use in compounding. Check the medicine named on your label, and share a photo of it.

How long does switching take?

The online part takes about 3 minutes of health questions. A licensed provider then reviews your dose and history, and once you’re prescribed, our partner pharmacy usually ships within 1 to 2 business days, with free expedited shipping. Questions along the way go to (949) 818-8000, 24/7, and we follow up with the pharmacy for you.

Do I need a new prescription to switch semaglutide providers?

Yes. Your new provider writes it after reviewing your health history and current dose, whether that’s compounded semaglutide, Wegovy or Ozempic. At NexLife, it’s $119 a month on the 12-month plan or $139 month to month, at every dose, and if you pay less now with another licensed provider, we match it.†

What do I need to switch semaglutide providers?

A photo of your label, your dose in milligrams, your last dose date and your health history. For the price match, add a receipt from the last 60 days.† The online questions take about 3 minutes, then a licensed provider reviews everything and decides whether to continue your dose or start you lower.

How much is Wegovy at Ro compared with NexLife?

At Ro, brand-name Wegovy, pen or pill, runs $298 to $548 a month. At NexLife, compounded semaglutide is $119 a month on the 12-month plan or $139 month to month, at every dose. They’re different products: compounded medications aren’t FDA-approved.

Which pharmacies fill compounded semaglutide at NexLife?

State-licensed 503A partner pharmacies: Absolute Pharmacy (Lutz, FL) or Boudreaux’s New Drug Store (Lake Charles, LA). You never have to contact them. Questions go to NexLife 24/7: call or text (949) 818-8000, and we follow up with the pharmacy for you.

Can I get the price match if I have Medicare?

No. The Price Match Guarantee† isn’t open to people with Medicare, Medicaid or TRICARE coverage. It’s for new NexLife members switching from a licensed U.S. telehealth provider or clinic with an active prescription for compounded tirzepatide or semaglutide, and a licensed provider must determine that treatment is right for you.

Important safety information

Compounded tirzepatide and semaglutide are not FDA-approved, and the FDA hasn’t reviewed them for safety, effectiveness or quality. A provider prescribes them only when they offer a significant difference for you compared with an FDA-approved product. Both medicines may cause thyroid tumors, including cancer: don’t use either if you or a family member has had medullary thyroid carcinoma (MTC) or multiple endocrine neoplasia syndrome type 2 (MEN 2).

Read the full safety information

In studies with rodents, both medicines caused thyroid tumors; it isn’t known whether they cause them in people. Tell your provider if you notice a lump or swelling in your neck, hoarseness, trouble swallowing or shortness of breath. Serious side effects can include inflammation of the pancreas (pancreatitis), gallbladder problems, low blood sugar (especially with insulin or sulfonylureas), kidney problems from dehydration, severe stomach problems, serious allergic reactions, vision changes in people with type 2 diabetes, and a faster heart rate. Tell your care team before any surgery or procedure that uses anesthesia or deep sedation. Don’t combine either medicine with other GLP-1 medicines.

Tirzepatide can make birth control pills less effective: switch to a non-oral method, or add a barrier method such as condoms, for 4 weeks after you start and for 4 weeks after each dose increase. Both medicines may harm an unborn baby. Semaglutide should be stopped at least 2 months before a planned pregnancy. Tell your provider right away if you’re pregnant, planning to be, or breastfeeding.

This is a summary, not the complete safety information. Read the full Prescribing Information for FDA-approved tirzepatide (Zepbound) and semaglutide (Wegovy), and talk with your provider. You can report side effects to the FDA at 1-800-FDA-1088 or fda.gov/medwatch.
